There is a famous industry statistic that 90% of new guitarists quit playing within the first 12 months. Why is this? Up to a point it depends on the individual, but a very common reason is a feeling that you’re not making the progress you want to make, becoming discouraged and demotivated, not feeling good, quitting. It's a top priority for us that we develop your musical skills in an all round way so that you can become confident at joining in jams and so that all the steps to developing your skill set are broken down clearly. And in contrast with that industry statistic, very few new learners stop their tuition with us. You need to make sure that you're working on your rhythm skills your chord vocabulary, your knowledge of the fretboard, and your understanding of what is happening in the music. If you learn to copy and play songs by memory, but you don't have any other context, as soon as you forget those songs, you're back to square one. There is a world of enjoyment that can open up to you once you have some foundational knowledge on guitar. Key To Music is the only guitar school in Edinburgh where all the instructors have been specially trained in teaching to get results for students.
