Fruitbat textiles is an award winning hand crafted business based in the heart of Somerset. Charlotte, creative director of the business, graduated from the University of Creative Arts, Farnham, specilising in weaving. Charlotte spent four years working with Beverley Edmondson Millinery, where she gained and developed many skills in both textiles and millinery. Fruitbat textiles specilises in fashion and bridal accessories, creating a wide range of alternative head pieces for the modern bride.
The company creates hand woven, hand dyed and hand made accessories, including bespoke flat caps, many of which are inspired by and handmade in Somerset. Charlotte’s skills were highly recognised at the new designers exhibition in 2015 where The Society for Designer Craftsmen recruited Fruitbat textiles as a licentiate. The business then showed at the societies exhibition ‘Designer crafts on the mall’ 2015 where Charlotte was then honoured with the Pollie Weiss colour prize.
Charlotte is hugely passionate about keeping traditional crafts alive within the country, she values the skills and standards needed to create hand crafted pieces. Fruitbat textiles works hard to educate society about the skills, values and knowledge needed to create traditional crafted items.
