During lockdown, in line with government advice, we took the decision to go cashless. Not only did this make things much simpler and quicker for our teams allowing us to spend more time with guests, but lots of our customers preferred it as it meant we could serve them more quickly. Since then, a large number of customers have moved to more digital ways of paying and far fewer want to pay by cash. As a result of this, a lot of local branches of banks have closed where our restaurant managers could deposit cash takings, making it less safe for them to transport large volumes of money. The safety of our teams is crucial to us. As a result of this, we have made the decision to move to being a cash free restaurant. It goes without saying that we never want to disappoint our customer’s, and this won’t be good news for everybody, but in the current climate, when running restaurants is incredibly challenging, we’ve taken the decision for the greater good of our restaurant teams and many of our customers who prefer paying by card.
