Recent research conducted by Trend-Monitor has shown the influence that installers exert on customers and the buying process for the bathroom.
Bathroom fitters could influence bathroom projects at last year's Bathroom Manufacturers Association industry conference, Jane Blakeborough, research director at Trend-Monitor said: "Our consumer research shows that this year, it was the fitting that changed the research stage and also the buying stage, as well as selection of the retailer.
"Ultimately it's ultimately the plumber who has the most influence over the whole process. When you asked "Who is the person who has the greatest influence over the items you bought? Most customers said the bathroom fitter was their choice. There are other elements but if consumers could choose just one the bathroom fitter, it would be suitable to the bathroom."
This is the time of year when the need for fitters and installers is at its most recent highs. But, despite this demand however, there's still a lot to be done to bring new installers into the industry. It's that time when the British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom Installation (BiKBBI) has begun the apprenticeship process in the month of October in collaboration with the world's most renowned Apprenticeship Training Authority (ATA) and the Apprenticeship Management Group.
Damian Walters, BiKBBI chief executive, said: "The entire industry now has to help us in starting the project with many more opportunities for apprenticeships. We know of the urgent need of skilled technicians to meet the demands for high-quality KBB installation.
"Our apprenticeship program gives you all the information required to answer this question . It includes an apprenticeship that is suitable for the purpose under the Level 2 fitted Interiors program, a package of assistance for recruitment and a growing pool of potential applicants. Now is the time to advertise the opportunities that are available."
