Questions, questions, questionsā€¦ Ask as many as you can about your mortgage journey!

4/20/2023 12:07:00 PM by MK Mortgages

Itā€™s okay to ask questions, I actually prefer clients asking me anything about their mortgage journey.

I come across so many clients that have taken on a mortgage but some of the process or terminology has never been properly explained to them.
Thereā€™s no such thing as a silly question. Youā€™re not expected to understand everything the first time itā€™s explained to you, especially in a subject unfamiliar to you. If you donā€™t know something, or need to ask a question, just ask, itā€™s what Iā€™m here for.

Commonly asked questions we can deal with now include:

  • How long will the mortgage take to come through?
  • How much will it cost me to arrange a mortgage, and then every month after that?
  • What happens once weā€™re offered a mortgage?

Adding value to your mortgage questions

As well as answering questions I always try to add value to the conversations weā€™re having about the whole process of buying a house or getting a new mortgage.

One client I recently spoke to was struggling to find a property to buy so I suggested that they send me the potential options so that I could have a look and talk about what they found attractive about them. I helped them take another perspectiveā€¦

One house was surrounded by beautiful tall trees. Okay no big deal but the property was quite dark, and the photos were taken in summer. Plus, the trees were on the next-door property so there wasnā€™t much to be done unless the owners agreed to having them cut back, which doesnā€™t always happen.

Another property, whilst having a conveniently close public recreational area, had a front door that led straight onto a communal footpath. This could have been noisy, and during the summer months it looked like the area was used as a meeting point for socialising (surprisingly, the estate agent photos showed beer bottles on the ground).

Another client wanted to buy a property above a shop and although they were quite happy to live there itā€™s not something that all mortgage lenders will lend on. So, this means taking some care on mortgage selection plus making the client aware that it may not be as easy to sell in the future.

Free conversations and mortgage reviews

I offer a no fee advice service to all my clients, I will help with a fresh perspective whilst you look for a property, answer all your questions during the process of the ā€˜caseā€™, and deal with the estate agents and solicitors. Unlike many advisers and brokers who charge in the region of Ā£300 and upwards, our advice guidance and admin is free to you, however we do receive commission from the mortgage lender on every mortgage we arrange.

If youā€™d like to have a free consultation about your first mortgage, ask any mortgage related questions or get a free review of your existing mortgage call me, the man with the mortgage knowhow on 01869 390490.

I look forward to answering your questions! Marc.
