Frequently Asked Questions about Abbeyfield House
How do I apply to become a resident?
Once you've found a home you'd like to move into, you can get in touch directly with the house. Please email or call to arrange a visit and find out more information.
Can my family visit?
Yes – family and friends are welcome to visit you whenever suits, after all, this is your home.
What activities are there for residents?
We enjoy coffee mornings every Monday together with our volunteers; a fantastic way to get everyone together over a cuppa and biscuit or two. On the first Sunday of the month, we have a church service conducted by our very own resident Minister. We have plenty of parties and celebrations throughout the year, whether that be for birthdays within the house, festive fun at Christmas, or our New Year's Eve party. We enjoy regular trips out to local places and attractions.
Are meals provided?
Our chef creates fine food – a two or three course lunch and high tea served in the dining room making mealtimes a special occasion. Breakfast items are also provided in your room.
What security is there for residents?
Each room has its own front door which may be kept locked – no one may enter except by invitation and the front door has a security entrance controlled by push button and intercom which is inside your own room.
What will my room look like?
Abbeyfield House has 10 spacious rooms each with ensuite shower rooms and a small kitchen area with fridge so that you can prepare your own breakfast. Rooms are unfurnished so that you can bring your own personal possessions and furniture for a real home from home ambience.
What age do I need to be to live in an Abbeyfield retirement home?
We welcome any person aged 55 years and over to live at Abbeyfield - whether you want to downsize, simply want to live in companionship with others, or no longer feel able to continue living in your own home.
