Once you've found a home you'd like to move into, you can get in touch directly with the house. Please email or call to arrange a visit and find out more information.
Can my family visit?
Yes – family and friends are welcome to visit you whenever suits, after all, this is your home. Many homes have warm, welcoming communal spaces for you and your guests, as well as lovely gardens for entertaining in the summer. Family and friends are also welcome to join you for meals, events and activities at your house. Some, but not all, of our homes have guest rooms to stay over and guest parking spaces. Do ask about this when you visit.
What activities are there for residents?
We enjoy regular afternoon tea events; the ideal way to get everyone together over some delicious cakes, scones and teas. It's important to stay active in later life, so we offer plenty of opportunities to do this with regular gentle exercise classes. Get creative at our arts and crafts sessions!
What security is there for residents?
Our community alert system operates 24 hours a day.
Are meals provided?
Enjoy two delicious home-cooked meals in our dining room.
What will my room be like?
The house has 10 ensuite rooms which are tastefully decorated and you can bring your own personal items and furniture for a real home from home setting. All of our accommodation is on the ground floor for easy access.
What is in the local area?
Abbeyfield House is set in the historic market town of Strathaven lying in the Avon Valley in rural Lanarkshire. It is a picturesque town as it is a conservation area and has many features such as Strathaven Castle and Strathaven Park which are just minutes from the house. We are within walking distance of local shops and places to eat and drink should you wish to go out for the day.
What age do I need to be to live in an Abbeyfield retirement home?
We welcome any person aged 55 years and over to live at Abbeyfield - whether you want to downsize, simply want to live in companionship with others, or no longer feel able to continue living in your own home.
