This Shop used to be a well known bookshop, supplying Dorset Library for many years until Martin's eventually cancelled the supply of books to the Library, when it changed to a CTN. Perhaps although very sad they called this progress.
In the old days Miss Sibley ran the Pen Dept. Mrs Jackson ran the Stationery Dept, Mr P. Bruton ran the Book Dept. for many years this team ran a great business, Mr P Hammerton was the Manager( The second Manager after the takeover by Martin's) This shop took the wrong turn by their new image as a CTN, Mr Hammerton went up to London to run another shop for Martin's prior to eventually running a Private Newsagents in Boscombe Bournemouth Dorset ( Two Squirrels in Sea Road). He eventually left that business and his current situation is now unknown.
