Frequently Asked Questions about Duffield House
What is security like?
We have a community alarm which is monitored 24/7.
Are meals provided?
Yes, food is home cooked and freshly prepared, so it’s not surprising that, for many residents, communal meals are the highlight of the day. This makes a huge difference to people who have previously been living alone when it can be a big effort to bother to cook.
What will my room look like?
We have accommodation for ten residents, six of whom have separate bedrooms and sitting rooms, with the remaining single rooms being of increased size in keeping with current expectations. All apartments are en-suite with walk-in showers and there are many other appropriate adaptations for older users, including a lift. We have a charging area for mobility scooters (or storage for bikes).
How do I apply to become a resident?
Once you've found a home you'd like to move into, you can get in touch directly with the house. Please contact the house by email or phone to arrange a visit and find out more information.
Can my family visit?
Yes, family and friends are welcome to visit you whenever suits, after all, this is your home.
What age do I need to be to live in an Abbeyfield retirement home?
We welcome any person aged 55 years and over to live at Abbeyfield - whether you want to downsize, simply want to live in companionship with others, or no longer feel able to continue living in your own home.
